Frequently Asked Questions

How does a player qualify for a Varsity Letter?

A Varsity Letter is not guaranteed because a player is on the Varsity roster. In order to earn a Varsity Letter in baseball, a student-athlete must not only be rostered but must also compete in the equivalent of 7 full baseball games in a CIF Southern Section season as a position player, or must pitch in at least 13 innings as a pitcher. This applies to players in 9th, 10th and 11th grade. Seniors that have not lettered prior to their senior year will earn a Varsity Letter upon completing their final season. Varsity Letters can also be handed out at the discretion of the coaching staff and Athletics department.

How does a player garnish All-League status?

All-League is only given out at the Varsity level and is based on where Murrieta Mesa falls at the end of the season standings. This award is given out to a select number of players, per team, that are league leaders in stat categories. Any non-league stats do not count towards this selection. A player will be nominated for their accolades in League games only, and will be awarded by the coaching staff, but also must be approved by the other head coaches from around the league.

How does a player garnish a season and career record?

A player can break a record by surpassing a prior record in any record category. Only league varsity  games are considered in breaking a season record.
All years a player played on a varsity team during league and playoffs are considered in career records.
